Some of you may already know this, but nearly two weeks ago, April 24th was my birthday, and I turned 26! I was super excited for this occasion because it gave me a chance to make up for the one I had two years ago (my supposedly “Golden Birthday”) where I just lied on my bed and stared at the four corners of my ceiling. For those of you who may not know what a “Golden Birthday” is, it’s basically your biggest, grandest, best birthday, and it occurs when you turn the age of your birth date, however, given the previously mentioned circumstance, I’ve decided to celebrate it this year, and a “Golden Birthday” it was! To commemorate this occasion, I wanted something grand and bizarre wrapped around my feet- it had to be sensational even to everything on this blog so far. I searched in stores and browsed the Internet for weeks, and found nothing interesting. Almost giving up in my search and conforming to something common, these Giuseppes caught my eyes, but not only did they catch them, they didn’t let go! After seeing them online, and then experiencing them in person, I ordered them immediately! The natural light blue color shrouded in scintillating glitter makes this sneaker an absolute jaw dropper! And it’s slipper-like silhouette adds a unique element of comfort to its appeal. But it’s even more cozy on the inside; I love how my feet slides right into it, and even when I walk for long periods of time it feels like I’m wearing nothing on my feet. I actually forget there even there sometimes, that is, until someone snaps their neck or ends up complimenting me. In this post, I paired them up with some simple three-quarter blue joggers, and a gray Vie Richie shirt.
What would you pair them with? What do you think about this outfit? Would love to hear you guys’ thoughts!
If you know anything about me it should be that I absolutely love makeup. Like a lot. I have loved makeup ever since I was a little girl, I clearly remember getting a play makeup set when I was like 7 or 8, and badly doing my eye shadow with it on a few occasions. My mother was pretty lenient with me growing up, she let me paint my nails and wear her lipstick and wouldn't ever really complain about it, not even after I ruined several of her products. I was definitely lucky in this regard and didn't realize it until I started hearing stories of girls being forbidden to wear makeup or nail polish.
Unfortunately, this early start didn't give me any sort of advantage on the learning curve of the beauty community, I still had to go through all the bad eyebrow phases and wear mismatched foundation to school. A lot of people look back and cringe at all those bad makeup experiences, but I like to think that they're all learning experiences. That time I wore thick, black, kohl, liner all around my eyes, making me look like a raccoon? Learned from it. And that time I wore that barbie pink, glittery (yes, glittery) blush that you could see from a mile away? Mmhm, definitely learned from it. I think we make mistakes so that we can improve ourselves. My makeup skills have definitely improved since then, and while a few years down the road I may look back and still cringe, I know that I'm learning as I go.
Nowadays I don't wear tons of eyeliner, or shimmery pink blushes, in fact, my go-to daily look is very fresh, simple, and neutral. I start my routine by washing my face and moisturizing, it's very important you properly prep your skin for what's to come. I have recently been absolutely loving the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow foundation, it is my favorite and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it. It gives my skin a fresh, youthful, dewy look without looking heavy. I follow up with some concealer, I've been using the L.A Girl Pro Conceal HD concealer to conceal my under eye area and highlight the high points of my face, then I set everything with the NYC translucent loose powder (this is seriously a great powder, and a huge bargain!). I highly recommend you use a damp sponge to blend everything, like a Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques sponge.
Most days I do some light contour and highlight and the products I use for that are the Makeup Forever bronzing powder in Mat Bronze along with the Becca powder highlight in Opal. I apply a bit of blush, my choice is usually the Laura Geller baked blush in Golden Apricot. For my eyes I go pretty bare, I curl my lashes, apply some mascara (currently loving benefit They're Real), and if I'm feeling fancy I add a pair of Ardell Demi Wispies (favorite!). I do my eyebrows with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade in Ash Brown. And top off my look with a spritz of MAC Fix+ and Urban Decay All Nighter. I know it seems like a lot of products and steps, but it seriously takes me around 15 to 20 minutes to complete everything, I don't even wear lipstick most days, just a dab of lip balm and I'm done.
My hair is probably the simplest of it all. For this look I simply took my hair up in a high ponytail and curled all the ends with a 1in curling one, I use a super inexpensive one by Conair. I spray my hair with hairspray (use your favorite kind, I'm currently using the Smooth Sexy Hair Smooth & Seal Anti-Frizz & Shine Spray since I had a sample of it), take my hair out of the ponytail, shake it out, and voila! It's easily one of the quickest hairstyles I've ever done.
As you can see, you don't have to spend hours in front of the mirror applying tons of makeup and messing with your hair to look beautiful, leave that for the super special occasions 😉
